Pattern Design is about making three-dimensional art projects. Pattern Design can also be used to create sewing patterns for clothes.

There are two steps to making patterns: Fit and Design. Fit is about changing a flat piece of paper into a three-dimensional shape to create a Master Pattern. Design is about changing that Master Pattern for different looks.

The shape of a wine bottle is like the shape of a human body from the waist to the hips. For the Master Pattern for these projects, the top of the pattern is called the "Waist" and the larger part of the pattern is called the "Hips." By all of us using the same Master Pattern for a wine bottle, we can jump right into Pattern Design.
